Luke Paul is a senior bioinformatics engineer with Genomics England in London, UK. With his team, he is currently setting up the flagship Newborns Generation study’s workflows in Nextflow. This study aims to assess the viability of offering sequencing for all newly born children in England, reporting childhood onset, treatable diseases, a world first. He finished reading for an M.Sc. in Informatics at the University of Edinburgh in 2017, specialising in Bioinformatics, Systems and Synthetic Biology, and obtained a Distinction classification. His project involved redesigning the user interface of a bioinformatics application, applying human computer interaction techniques to identify areas for improvement.
