Marcel Ribeiro-Dantas is a passionate Developer Advocate at Seqera, dedicated to nurturing and empowering the vibrant Nextflow and nf-core communities, with a primary focus on Latin America and the Caribbean regions. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from Sorbonne Université, France, along with other graduate degrees in Health Informatics, Big Data, and Bioinformatics. Over the past two decades, Marcel has been deeply engaged in the Free, Libre, and Open Source Software (FLOSS) communities. He’s been involved in coordinating local FLOSS communities, such as the Free Software Project Brazil in his state in Brazil. Later, he co-founded the PotiLivre project and contributed actively to various projects, notably the Fedora Project. Marcel’s career journey is a blend of academia and technology-driven healthcare initiatives. His expertise spans a range of areas, from the intricate analysis of biomolecular data to the development of software for computer-aided diagnosis and healthcare management. Additionally, Marcel has dedicated himself to crafting biomedical devices to support patients, reflecting his enduring commitment to leveraging technology for healthcare improvement. Marcel will present a talk titled "Building a community: Experiences from one year as a developer advocate".
