nf-core hackathon at the Nextflow Summit 2024

Nextflow training

nf-core is a community effort to collect a curated set of tools, modules and pipelines built using Nextflow.

Whether you're already involved in nf-core or not, this hackathon is the perfect place to get to know other members of the community in person. You'll collaborate on projects, discuss code and learn from each other.
  • Audience: All welcome, no prior nf-core contributions needed
  • Required: Some experience with writing Nextflow code.
  • Beginners welcome, but please note that this is not a training event.

Full details on the nf-core website

For the most up-to-date information on the nf-core hackathon at the Nextflow Summit 2024, please visit the nf-core website. That page will be updated with the latest information on the event, including the schedule, group details, and more:

How the hackathon works

The nf-core hackathons are not competitve. Instead, they are collaborative, community-driven events where participants work together on projects. Projects can be anything from adding new features to existing pipelines, to creating entirely new pipelines. You can bring your own favourite topic or choose from a list of open issues in the community. We try to group people based on the types of tasks that are being tackled, so that you can work with others who have similar interests.

For details of the schedule and topics, please see the nf-core website.

Hackathon socials

nf-core hackathons are not just about coding! We also have a lot of fun. We typically run things like a quiz, a bingo and have several small prizes for the winners. In addition to small social games and contests during the event, we also have a social evening.

This year the hackathon social event will be held together with attendees from the training event. We will be revealing the location and details of the social event closer to the time, but rest assured - you're in for a treat!
