Ben Sherman is a Senior Software Engineer at Seqera. He earned a PhD in Computer Engineering from Clemson University, where he developed high-performance applications for computational scientists (particularly bioinformaticians). Ben has employed a variety of techniques, including machine learning, GPU programming, and Nextflow pipelines, to enable scientists to perform data-intensive scientific research. Ben has been using Nextflow since 2018, and started working on Nextflow full-time when he joined Seqera in 2021. As a core maintainer of Nextflow, Ben is focused on improving the Nextflow language and optimizing the Nextflow runtime for HPC and cloud.
