Chris has over a decade of experience analysing nanopore sequencing data. He started as a data analyst helping laboratory scientists develop the core technologies with MinION and PromethION flowcells. Chris was one of the primary authors of the first publicly released basecaller: nanonet, as well as earlier HMM-based methods. He was the lead developer of medaka, the consensus caller of nanopore data. More recently Chris oversees the Customer Workflows group, responsible for creating bioinformatics resources for customers of Oxford Nanopore.
