After completing his Bachelors in Informatics in Athens/Greece, Evangelos earned a Masters and a PhD in Bioinformatics. Subsequently, his first post-doctoral position was in a metagenomics-oriented bioinformatics group (~3 years), again in Athens, where his primary role was software engineering, developing R/Shiny web apps for network visualisation and enrichment analysis tools. Most recently, he moved to Cambridge/UK to take up a H2020 ARISE program Research Fellowship position in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Finn, EMBL-EBI, where he focuses on creating metagenomics-derived protein families - MGnifams.
