Introduction to BioCompute and Integration with Nextflow

BioCompute is a descriptive standard (officially "IEEE 2791-2020") that is complimentary to Nextflow, and a BCO (BioCompute Object) is an instance of a workflow that conforms to the standard. The standard was developed with the input of many groups from academia, private industry, and government institutions, most notable the US FDA, who has officially adopted the standard for describing bioinformatics pipelines used in regulatory submissions, and who has continued to invest in the project. This talk will introduce attendees to the project, and describe recent work that enables the Nextflow engine to generate a BCO.
