Tom Sante

Tom is the bioinformatics team leader at the Department of Medical Genetics at Ghent University Hospital. His team is actively involved in the Nextflow and nf-core communities, contributing to open-source tools and workflows for bioinformatics. By leveraging Nextflow to streamline data processing and detect genetic abnormalities in areas such as prenatal screening, carrier screening, hereditary diseases, and oncology, the team contributes to more accurate diagnoses, better disease progression assessment, and personalized treatment plans. Running their workload on a robust Nomad-based infrastructure ensures efficient resource allocation and scalability, enhancing the overall performance and flexibility of the bioinformatics operations.
