Thanh Le Viet is a Bioinformatics Scientific Programmer in Bioinformatics and Informatics Support Group at the Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), Norwich, UK. Thanh has a PhD in Evolution, Ecology, Genetic Resources and Paleontology from the University of Montpellier, France. He started using Nextflow from 2017 when he was working as a bioinformatician for developing bioinformatics pipelines for AMR National Reference Laboratory at Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Vietnam.
At QIB, Thanh works on bioinformatics infrastructure that he primarily develops bioinformatics pipelines using Nextflow for routine services such as automated demultiplexing Illumina data, processing Nanopore data from Minion and PromethION sequencer, as well as bespoken analyses for researchers at the institute. Besides that, Thanh also manages the on-premises Openstack cloud platform at QIB as part of the CLIMB BIG-DATA project (Cloud Infrastructure for Big Data Microbial Bioinformatics) and has interest in using Deep learning in exploring biological insights from Nanopore data.
Thanh will be presenting his work titled “Automated bioinformatics infrastructure for large scale SARS-Cov-2 genomic surveillance at QIB”.
